Ben’s Kids Outreach
Program In its “Ben’s Kids” outreach program, IEA
exclusively serves youth that are referred for
services by the Jefferson County Juvenile Probation
Department. The referrals represent youth formerly
detained in the Jefferson County Juvenile Detention
Center as well as other youth being supervised by
the Jefferson County Juvenile probation. After a
thorough intake process, which involves both youth
and parents, clients benefit from personalized
attention from IEA’s multi-disciplinary team (which
includes a case manager, counselor, mentor, and
education specialist). Once individualized service
plans are created, case managers connect clients
with the appropriate IEA services. Ben’s Kids
meetings provide youth with a supportive network of
mentors and community volunteers that help to
encourage, motivate, and influence youth to stay
away from at-risk situations that lead to
delinquency. Parents of IEA participants benefit
from referrals for counseling, parent education,
parent support groups (includes child supervision
with structured activities), provision of social
service assistance, and referrals to community
resources. |
